Meera Krishnan

Hi! My name is Meera Krishnan! I am 13 years old, an 8th grader at Clark Middle school, and the founder of Big Sister Reading. For the past year and a half, it has been really hard. Stuck at home, working moms and dads, kids driving everyone crazy (including me sometimes!). But through this experience, I have been thinking, "What can I do to make a positive difference in our community?"

And then my idea was born! I will volunteer my time to read books to kids and be a positive influence while making "big sister" connections.

Two of my favorite books are The Twits and The Trumpet of the Swan. Additionally, I love playing soccer, swimming, biking, creating films and listening to music!

Sophie Read

Hi! My name is Sophie Read I am currently 14 years old and I am also in 8th grade. I go to Clarke middle school and I live in Lexington with my parents and my sister Jessica. In my free time I like to play sports like soccer, swimming and cross country running.
During this tough time period, I have seen parents, such as my own, stressed out about work, and finding ways to entertain their kids but at the same time, also trying to keep feeding some knowledge into their children's brains all while doing their everyday routines.
Once my friend Meera had reached out to me about this amazing program, I was eager to find ways to help and to make a difference in our community. I am excited to meet so many young readers and to join them on their adventure through a good book!

Ira Bagga is a 7th grader at Jonas Clarke Middle School in Lexington MA. She is a dancer, pianist, writes short stories, is a coder, "full-time doodler", and an avid reader. She enjoys teaching people and sharing her knowledge, and loves to help out in her community and the environment!
Reading has always been one of her favorite pastimes, and she also loves listening to audiobooks, which take her into an entirely new world, which she also hopes to do when reading books to other people.
Ira also has participated in many art competitions and loves being competitive! Even though every book is amazing, her absolute favorites are the Harry Potter series, The War that Saved my Life (a novel), and Echo (also a novel).
